Call Me Sensei Launches Chinese Language Learning With Six New AI Companions
SINGAPORE, 18 February 2026 — To mark the Lunar New Year, Hyperbond Studio today announced the launch of Chinese (Mandarin) language learning on Call Me Sensei, expanding the app's language roster alongside six newly introduced AI companions. The update marks the first major content expansion since the app entered open alpha.
Six New Senseis
Meet Mei, Taozi, Lynn, Ray, Wen, and Jun — six new characters spanning a range of personalities, backstories, and conversational styles, each designed to reflect authentic Chinese cultural contexts. Learners practice through scenarios like exploring night markets, navigating university life, or sharing a hotpot with someone they're slowly falling for. Every sensei is fully voiced via MiniMax's text-to-speech technology, with emotional range that shifts naturally across story arcs.
Chinese joins English and Japanese as a supported learning language, with all three accessible to learners across 20+ native languages.
Why Chinese
Chinese is the most spoken language in the world by native speakers and one of the most requested by Call Me Sensei's early user base. Beyond practical utility, Mandarin-language pop culture, including C-dramas, music, and gaming, has driven a growing wave of learners motivated by cultural connection rather than career necessity. Call Me Sensei is designed for exactly that kind of learner.
"The people who learn fastest are the ones who genuinely want to be part of the world the language opens up," said Shawn Tan, Co-Founder and CEO of Hyperbond Studio. "With C-drama fans, Chinese pop music listeners, and Chinese diaspora communities reconnecting with the language, there was a clear and passionate audience waiting for this."
What's Next
Spanish and Korean expansions remain on track for H1 2026, alongside deeper relationship routes and simulated phone call features. Call Me Sensei is available now on the iOS App Store and Google Play.
